This site aims to inventory Holocaust children’s literature published in the United States and Canada since 2002 through a searchable database. You’ll be able to query by author, title, publisher, year of publication, genre, geography, and category. You’ll also be able to access associated book reviews and join in conversations. Anticipated launch: June 2017.
Holocaust Children’s Literature is a site founded and managed by Barbara Krasner, MFA in Writing for Children & Young Adults (Vermont College of Fine Arts), pursuing her PhD in Holocaust & Genocide Studies (Gratz College). Krasner is a former member of the Association of Jewish Libraries’ Sydney Taylor Book Award Committee. She reviews Holocaust titles for AJL and the Jewish Book Council and teaches Holocaust history at William Paterson University/Mercer County Community College in New Jersey. She serves on the Advisory Council of Holocaust & Genocide Studies at William Paterson and on the Steering Committee of the Holocaust & Genocide Studies Center at Mercer County Community College. Her Holocaust-based literary work has appeared or is forthcoming in numerous journals, including Lilith, Jewishfiction.net, Poetica, and Jewish Literary Journal. Her novel in verse about the doomed 1939 voyage of the MS St. Louis, 37 Days at Sea, is scheduled for Spring 2021 release by Lerner Publishing.
